This approach allows our customers to access the most suitable products to support their individual needs and circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>FOA President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/kristen-sieffert-leads-the-reverse-mortgage-presence-at-the-gathering\/\">Kristen Sieffert<\/a> also addressed the new campaign, saying it marks a change in direction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis campaign marks a shift away from traditional celebrity endorsement toward storytelling that reflects real life goals and aspirations of today\u2019s homeowners,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Ashley Smith, senior vice president of brand and communications at FOA, also recently touched on this sentiment when discussing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/reverse-mortgage-professionals-encouraged-by-ramped-up-outreach-plans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">broader industry outreach efforts<\/a> with <strong>HousingWire<\/strong>\u2019s Reverse Mortgage Daily (RMD) at last week\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/tag\/nrmla\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association<\/strong><\/a> (NRMLA) Western Regional Meeting in Irvine, California.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe more we can normalize [reverse mortgages] and make [them] mainstream, the better it is going to be for this industry, this category and Finance of America,\u201d Smith said at the event. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPart of our growth strategy is to make home equity for retirement mainstream, so this is something that we truly believe in and think is important for the industry right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-financial-performance\">Financial performance<\/h2>\n<p>Matt Engel, FOA\u2019s chief financial officer, described the financial performance for the quarter as strong \u201cacross several key metrics,\u201d including funded volume growth and \u201cmeaningful improvement\u201d in GAAP net results. <\/p>\n<p>Spreads did widen slightly during the quarter, but overall valuations were positive stemming from \u201cdeclining base rates and stable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/tag\/home-price-appreciation\/\">home-price appreciation<\/a> assumptions,\u201d Engel said.<\/p>\n<p>The company endured an adjusted net loss of $7 million in Q1 2024. One year later, this measure improved by $20 million, which Engel attributed to \u201chigher volumes, a fully integrated business and disciplined expense management.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the company\u2019s retirement solutions segment saw flat revenue margins in Q1 2025, the company\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/tag\/wholesale-lending\/\">wholesale lending<\/a> channel exceeded expectations and allowed FOA to beat its overall investor guidance. Efficiencies in originations were also highlighted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe originated higher volumes with a more streamlined team, leading to an increase in loans per employee of 33% across our origination platform compared to the first quarter of 2024,\u201d Engel said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe expect to continue to see this trend upward due to the scalability of our model and the benefit of our ongoing digital transformation.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-maintaining-growth-projections\">Maintaining growth projections<\/h2>\n<p>Engel described the company\u2019s liquidity situation as \u201cadequate,\u201d adding that FOA maintains \u201chealthy financing capacity\u201d to support its growth projections.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding these projections, the company is \u201creaffirming our full year guidance for both volume and earnings,\u201d Engel said. This includes $2.4 billion to $2.7 billion in origination volume, along with $2.60 to $3 in adjusted earnings per share]. In the second quarter alone, it projects funded volume of $575 million to $600 million.<\/p>\n<p>During the Q&amp;A portion of the call, Fleming said that April 2025 \u201cwas actually our best submission and funded volume month in the last two years, so very strong volume in April.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The stock market responded positively to FOA\u2019s earnings report.
