They were rude, so I didn\u2019t even want to go in to write up an offer,\u201d Sosinski recalled. \u201cI was going to help my brother and sister-in-law find a house, and then I was going to pull my license. I wasn\u2019t going to do it anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That plan changed the moment she delivered an offer to another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/tag\/real-estate-agents\/\">agent<\/a> on behalf of her family. He hired her on the spot as an assistant and brought her to Keller Williams. <\/p>\n<p>That encounter \u2014 which Sosinski still refers to as \u201cright place, right time\u201d \u2014 became a true turning point.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a different vibe at Keller Williams,\u201d she said. \u201cThat one company I was with was very competitive, and I was a nobody, and nobody wanted to help me. But my brother and sister-in-law said, \u2018We don\u2019t quit until we find a house.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-finding-her-place-in-pittsburgh\">Finding her place in Pittsburgh<\/h2>\n<p>Though Sosinski is now firmly established in the Pittsburgh market, she didn\u2019t grow up there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI grew up in a town called Girard, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/tag\/pennsylvania\/\">Pennsylvania<\/a>, right outside of Erie,\u201d she said. \u201cI moved to Washington, D.C., when I was 18. Lived there five years, had kids, and realized I didn\u2019t want to raise my kids in D.C. So we made it to Pittsburgh, and I\u2019ve been here ever since.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even her arrival in Pittsburgh followed the same serendipitous theme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were driving through Bridgeville because I wanted to live there. I saw two women walking down the street, and I stopped and said, \u2018Excuse me, do you know of any apartments around here?&#8217;\u201d Sosinski said. \u201cShe points to the building right behind her, and there was an apartment. No sign or anything. If I hadn\u2019t stopped those women, I wouldn\u2019t have got the apartment that I ended up living in four or five years.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-steady-volume-wild-market\">Steady volume, wild market<\/h2>\n<p>According to RealTrends data, Sosinski closed approximately $26.2 million in volume last year across 249 transactions \u2014 what she considers an average year. <\/p>\n<p>Her best year? 318 transactions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI work more by numbers, the [number] of deals,\u201d she said. \u201cMy best year ever was 318. But the price point would have been lower, because I do specialize in foreclosures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/housing-affordability-by-metro-area-2025-realtor-com\/\">price point is changing<\/a>, even in historically flat Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis last time, boom, it went crazy, absolutely crazy,\u201d Sosinski said of the local market spike. \u201cFor years, we didn\u2019t see a huge increase or decrease in values. They just slowly climbed over the years. But we needed something to pull our values up.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-rolling-with-the-punches\">Rolling with the punches<\/h2>\n<p>When asked about the key to her longevity and success in the industry, Sosinski didn\u2019t hesitate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI roll with the punches. I let my life tell me what I\u2019m supposed to do. And then I just go with it,\u201d she said. \u201cIt tells me to do stupid things, I do them and it works out. I\u2019m very, very grateful for my career, very grateful. And I think that my attitude helps, as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That adaptability extends beyond her mindset to her market area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI serve western Pennsylvania,\u201d she said, noting that her business stretches far beyond Pittsburgh itself. \u201cWe have West Penn Multi-List [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/tag\/mls\/\">MLS<\/a>] \u2014 and I feel like that separates us from the rest of the state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While agents in other parts of Pennsylvania use different platforms, Sosinski believes West Penn gives the region its own rhythm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have our own little market here,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s big, and it\u2019s the main one. I feel like that guides our market a little differently.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-finding-a-specialty\">Finding a specialty<\/h2>\n<p>For new agents \u2014 or those facing the kind of disillusionment Sosinski once did \u2014 she offers simple, direct advice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFind a specialty of some sort. It can be anything,\u201d she said. \u201cIt can be, \u2018I specialize in this street. I specialize in this area. I specialize in foreclosures. I specialize in investment properties. I specialize in commercial.\u2019 Get a specialty. Focus on it. Be the best at it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her own specialty \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/tag\/foreclosure\/\">foreclosures<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/tag\/investment-properties\/\">investment properties<\/a> \u2014 helped carve out her niche during years when most Pittsburgh agents worked traditional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/tag\/residential-real-estate\/\">residential<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou just have to find that one thing that sets you apart,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the volume, the numbers and the market fluctuations, Sosinski comes back to something deeper.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very, very blessed. I don\u2019t question it. I\u2019m always grateful and I\u2019m blessed,\u201d she said. \u201cI live my life on right time, right place. That\u2019s how I live my life.
