Housing is a top political priority for Americans, and voters overwhelmingly support federal action to address \u0434\u043e\u0441\u0442\u0443\u043f\u043d\u043e\u0441\u0442\u044c \u0436\u0438\u043b\u044c\u044f<\/a>, according to a new poll from the \u0426\u0435\u043d\u0442\u0440 \u0434\u0432\u0443\u0445\u043f\u0430\u0440\u0442\u0438\u0439\u043d\u043e\u0439 \u043f\u043e\u043b\u0438\u0442\u0438\u043a\u0438<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The poll found that 83% of voters believe that \u041a\u043e\u043d\u0433\u0440\u0435\u0441\u0441<\/strong> should take action to make housing more affordable. Meanwhile, 89% of respondents agree that the \u043f\u0430\u043b\u0430\u0442\u0430 \u043f\u0440\u0435\u0434\u0441\u0442\u0430\u0432\u0438\u0442\u0435\u043b\u0435\u0439<\/strong> \u0438 \u0421\u0435\u043d\u0430\u0442<\/strong> should work together to pass a bill aimed at lowering housing costs and building more affordable homes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The online poll of 1,000 registered voters, conducted in partnership with Advocus Partners<\/strong>, The Tarrance Group<\/strong> \u0438 Avenue Solutions<\/strong> from April 28-30, also found that the cost of housing is a crucial issue to voters, with 79% saying that it is an extremely or very important issue to them. Notably, 91% of respondents between 18 and 44 said that the cost of housing is extremely or very important.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nearly eight in ten (78%) of voters say that housing is their biggest expense, including 88% under the age of 45. More than half (57%) agree that housing costs make it difficult to meet their other financial obligations<\/a>, but that share jumps to 76% among voters under 45.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Roughly nine in ten (88%) of voters agree that it\u2019s harder to buy a house now than ever before. Among younger voters<\/a>, the share of respondents agreeing with that sentiment is nearly unanimous.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The results signal that housing is a top priority for voters, regardless of political affiliation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you get that 80%-plus range, you\u2019re really looking at a broad spectrum of voters,\u201d Brian Nienaber, vice president at The Tarrance <\/strong>Group, said in an interview. \u201cThis is an issue that they\u2019re experiencing on a personal level.\u201d<\/p>\n

Broad support for quick federal action<\/h2>\n

According to the poll, 63% of voters said they would be more likely to vote for a representative or senator who voted for or helped pass a federal housing bill into law.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHousing costs are at the top of voters\u2019 minds, and the poll that you have received confirms it. People across the country are feeling the pressure, and they want Congress to respond,\u201d said Dennis Shea, executive director of the J. Ronald Terwilliger Center for Housing Policy at the Bipartisan Policy Center.<\/p>\n
